Two RTB Producers And A Clerk Charged With Filing Fake Claims

Bandar Seri Begawan - Three employees of Radio Television Brunei (RTB) were brought before the Magistrate's Court yesterday for allegedly misleading the state broadcaster by falsely submitting payment claims amounting to $7,125 for the production of RTB's Fun Time programme.

No plea was taken from the three defendants.Hjh Salmayah Hj Mohd Hussein, a senior producer and Head of the Youth and Children Television Unit, faces seven charges of submitting false claims from February to July 2007, amounting to $6,500.

Norjanah Hj Japar, a producer at the same unit faces three charges of submitting false claims from February to June 2007 amounting to $525, while Sa'diah. a clerk at the

Youth and Children Television Unit, faces one charge for submitting a false claim in July 2007 for $100.

Senior Magistrate PgMasni Pg Hi Bahar released Hjh Salmayah and Norjanah on $5,000 bail, or one local surety, while Sa'diah was released on $3,500 or one local surety. The case is set for further mention on February 6. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times

Dr. Shireen graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics & Economics from Reed College, Oregon (USA), after which she obtained her M.Sc. in Management from the Arthur D. Little Management Education Institute (now known as Hult International Business School) in Massachusetts (USA). After working in Boston for a year, she left the United States of America to pursue further studies in Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science in London (UK), where she subsequently received her M.Sc. in Economics. After attaining her Ph.D. in Economics she returned home to Malaysia, where she has had a diverse career that saw her traverse various industries including research, stock broking, investment banking and finally tobacco as multinational JT International’s Regional Head of Corporate Affairs for South East Asia & India. At KRU she is responsible for the overall operations of the Group, and also heads the Group’s international business operations.
